Smart-TE: AI Job Description Generator

This feature is only available on the Professional Tier

Smart-TE's AI Job Description Generator will help you to craft original, engaging Job Descriptions using the pertinent details you already have. You can use this tool either for brand new Jobs you're creating, or for Jobs you've already set up, where you might like to "spice up" the existing description.

At any time in the processes below, you can choose the "Start Over" button to begin the process again, or click X to exit the process. Once a Job Description is generated, you may edit it to your liking before saving, or use Ctrl-Z to "undo" and return the Job Description to its prior state.

For New Jobs:

  • First, navigate to the Add a Job page, or click on the plus icon in the Main Navigation Bar to select Add a Job
  • Fill in a Job Title, and any other pertinent details you already have, like Location, Remote type, Benefits and other details
    • Only Job Title is required, and is usually enough to help Smart-TE write a complete Job Description, but more fields will help it fine-tune your results

  • If you have a draft Job Description already, even just a snippet, go ahead and add it - Smart-TE can take that information into account to draft your new Description, if you choose.
    • If you don't yet have a Description, leave that field blank - Smart-TE is here to help!
  • Next, find and click the Smart-TE AI button at the top of the Job Description composer to choose which fields Smart-TE should consider when writing your Job Description

  • By default, Smart-TE will consider all of the selected fields when crafting your new description, but you can un-check the boxes for any fields you would like Smart-TE to ignore
    • For example: if you'd rather your Job Description not mention anything about "Interview Expenses", simply uncheck that box before you proceed


  • Next, choose a Tone option from the dropdown
    • You may choose Professional, Authoritative, Informative, Casual, or Friendly

  • Review the disclaimer text and click the Generate button

  • Hang tight for a moment, we've asked Smart-TE to carefully consider all of your provided information before crafting your new Job Description. This may take a few moments.
    • You may click the Cancel button while Smart-TE is "thinking" to start over

  • After a moment, Smart-TE will deliver your new Job Description! AI may seem magical, but it's not infallible (yet), so please make sure to carefully review the results for content and formatting before publishing your Job
    • You may Save the Job as-is, edit as desired before saving, or use Ctrl-Z to return the Job Description field to its prior state
    • Pro Tip: you can also use Ctrl-Y, along with Ctrl-Z, to toggle undo/redo in the Job Description field!

For Existing Jobs:

For your existing Jobs, the steps are essentially the same, but you'll start by opening the Datasheet for the Job whose Description you'd like to modify.

You can get to your Jobs from the Jobs Dashboard, by searching for the Job in the Quick Find at the upper right of any screen, or however you're used to finding your Job records. Wherever you find it, click on the Job's title to open the Datasheet.


  • Once on the Job Datasheet, find the Job Description, either on the Job Description card (green box in the screenshot) or in the Right Side Panel (red boxes in the screenshot), and click the pencil icon to edit the existing Job Description

  • When inline editing, find and click the Smart-TE AI button at the upper right of the composer to choose which fields Smart-TE should consider when modifying your Job Description

  • By default, Smart-TE will consider all of the selected fields when crafting your new description, but you can un-check the boxes for any fields you would like Smart-TE to ignore

    For example: if you'd rather your job description not mention anything about "Interview Expenses", simply uncheck that box before you proceed

  • Next, choose a Tone from the dropdown.
    • You may choose Professional, Authoritative, Informative, Casual, or Friendly

  • Once you've selected a Tone, click Next to proceed
  • Review the disclaimer text and click the Generate button


  • Hang tight for a moment, we've asked Smart-TE to carefully consider all of your provided information before crafting your new Job Description. This may take a few moments.
    • You may click the Cancel button while Smart-TE is "thinking" to start over.


  • After a moment, Smart-TE will deliver your new Job Description! AI may seem magical, but it's not infallible (yet), so please make sure to carefully review the results for content and formatting before saving Smart-TE's changes. Once you click Save, the new Job Description will overwrite any pre-existing Job Description text.
    • After reviewing the results, you may Save the Job as-is, edit as desired before saving, or use Ctrl-Z to return the Job Description field to its prior state
    • Pro Tip: you can also use Ctrl-Y, along with Ctrl-Z, to toggle undo/redo in the Job Description field
